Macon – Bibb County grand jurors voted to indict a Broxton woman on murder charges Tuesday in connection with a Macon woman’s 1991 disappearance.
Melinda Hill McSwain, 46, is charged with malice murder, felony murder and kidnapping with bodily injury. The indictment alleges McSwain abducted Sabrina Long, held her against her will and that the kidnapping resulted in Long’s injury and death.
Long was last seen at her Macon home on Aug. 14, 1991. McSwain was arrested on a kidnapping charge Oct. 18, 2018.
An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial.
McSwain is presumed to be innocent unless and until she is proven guilty in a court of law.
