Macon – A 43-year-old Macon man was sentenced to prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to molesting a young girl.
Larry Lowe Jr., pleaded guilty to multiple counts of child molestation during a hearing in Bibb County Superior Court. A judge sentenced him to 40 years. The first 25 years must be served in prison. After Lowe’s release, he must abide by sex offender terms of probation.
If the case had gone to trial, prosecutor Shelley Milton would have presented evidence showing:
Between January 2010 and September 2016, Lowe engaged in sex acts with a young girl. The girl was about 5 years old when the molestation began. A law enforcement investigation began in 2016 after other adults became aware of the molestation. The girl disclosed details of the sexual abuse during a forensic interview conducted at the Crescent House child advocacy center.
Evidence also would have been presented showing Lowe molested another young girl – who is now an adult – beginning when she was about 5 years old.
Speaking after the hearing, District Attorney David Cooke said, “I’m glad we were able to get justice for this young victim without putting her through the trauma of telling her story on the witness stand. With this sentence, Mr. Lowe won’t be able to hurt another child for decades to come.”
