Macon – A 47-year-old Macon man was sentenced to 20 years, 15 of them in prison, on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to forcing a 13-year-old girl to have sex in 2016.
Robert Lee Jackson pleaded guilty to statutory rape and sexual battery against a child under 16 during a hearing in Bibb County Superior Court.
If the case had gone to trial, prosecutor Chéferre Young would have presented evidence showing:
Jackson made the girl have sex multiple times in February 2016. The girl reported the sex acts to a family member who reported the case to law enforcement Dec. 28, 2016.
Jackson was arrested Jan. 5, 2017.
As part of his sentence, Jackson must register as a sex offender for life.
Speaking after the hearing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “Children should know that they are safe whenever they are left in a trusted adult’s care. Mr. Jackson exploited that trust when he abused this girl, and now he’ll pay the price for years to come.”
